Welcome to Environmental Geochemistry Lab
“Aerosol” is defined as a suspension of particles in air. The size of aerosol particles ranges from a few nanometers to several tens of micrometers, and the chemical compositions of aerosol particles vary significantly in the atmosphere. Aerosols affect the radiation balance of the Earth’s atmosphere by scattering and absorbing solar radiation and also by acting as cloud condensation nuclei and ice nuclei. Our laboratory primarily aims to develop novel particle measurement instruments using laser and mass spectrometric techniques and to investigate the key aerosol formation processes based on field observations.
